Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle dress differently when they attend gala charities.

Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, examined the Duchess of Cambridge's and Duchess of Sussex's outfits when they made appearances in charity galas. According to her, Markle usually opts for a "workwear-inspired look." On the other hand, Middleton prefers evening wear.

Prince Harry's wife usually dons suits and tuxedos. For instance, she wowed her fans when she showed up in a tuxedo dress with black heels at the Victoria Palace Theatre to watch "Hamilton" with the Duke of Sussex.

Markle apparently once said that her outfits were inspired by her character in "Suits." "Meghan and I loved Rachel's clothes. We’d always say that, if we could, we would live in Rache's clothes," Jolie Andreatta said. "Designing Rachel's look was like being a kid in a candy store."

However, now that she's officially a member of the royal family, Prince Harry reportedly advised his wife to also wear dresses. The duke reportedly requested that she does not wear suits during their trip to Australia.

"Harry, who has been sitting in on some of Meghan's meetings at Kensington Palace with 'special projects teams' from various designers, is said to have given the thumbs-down to a masculine Stella McCartney tuxedo suit his wife picked out for a glitzy evening event during the tour," Charlotte Griffith wrote.

"Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal. Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn't traditional enough," one of the fashion teams who visited Kensington Palace said.

On the other hand, Middleton loves floor-length dresses. In 2017, the Duchess of Cambridge attended the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (AFNCCF) gala in a floor-length black lace dress. She paired it with a luxurious bracelet, a Prada clutch bag and a brooch to mark Remembrance Day. She also accessorized with Queen Elizabeth II's diamond Quatrefoil bracelet and pendant earrings.

In related news, Middleton recently beat Markle as the most fashionable royal. According to eBay's annual UK Retail Report, the "Kate effect" is stronger than "Meghan effect" when it comes to the public's shopping habits. Middleton's maternity style dresses reportedly generated more online searches in the e-commerce website.
