Kate Middleton Wears $1,675 Dress Amid Meghan Markle Overspending Accusations

Kate Middleton donned an expensive dress on her recent outing.

On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed up at Wimbledon. Middleton was stunning in her Emilia Wickstead “Jordin” dress that cost $1,675. The royal mom paired it with Aldo “Nicholes” ankle-strap pumps that retail for $56, Page Six reported.

Many praised Middleton’s look and didn’t mind the price tag. On the other hand, when her sister-in-law Meghan Markle wears expensive clothes, the people are quick to slam her for overspending.

In June, Markle joined Prince Harry to watch a baseball game. She showed up in an A-line dress by Stella McCartney that features a gold buckle detail, which accentuated her post-baby figure. The outfit cost $1,035. She paired it with $737 fashionable pointy flats from Aquazzura.

Markle also received an intense backlash for her baby shower wardrobe in New York. Back in February, the Duchess of Sussex flew to the Big Apple to celebrate her baby shower with some of her closest pals. According to reports, her outfits cost $10,994.90 while the average U.K. salary is only $35,535.69.

Among Markle’s outfits was Courrèges Vintage Haute Couture Black Coat that's estimated to cost $2,201. She was also seen wearing $375 Stuart Weitzman pumps and Le Specs cat-eye sunglasses worth $73.90. Her accessories that included Bar Jewellery bracelet ($358), Pippa Small diamond earrings ($645) and a Solange Azagury-Partridge ring ($800) also cost almost $2,000.

"That’s disgusting," one netizen said of Markle’s expensive wardrobe.

In 2018, Markle spent $517,000 on her new clothes. It was six times more than Middleton’s budget because the Duchess of Cambridge’s clothing expenses for that year was only $87,000.

Many weren’t happy with Markle’s choice of spending too much for her outfits because for them, it was an “obscene amount of money” and no other royals including Queen Elizabeth II splurge that much for their wardrobe.

In related news, Middleton reportedly wanted to look younger and more modern, so she updated her fashion. It seems that her efforts worked because many noticed the improvement in her style. Middleton has been praised in her recent engagements and she even outshone Markle at Archie’s baptism.
