Kate Middleton Would Work In Retail If She Hadn’t Married Prince William?
Kate Middleton experienced what it was like to work before she joined the royal family. However, her professional experience in her chosen field of expertise was relatively short.
The Duchess of Cambridge worked as a retailer for the British brand Jigsaw. She also contributed to her family’s party supplies business. However, the mom of three had to give up her career when she married Prince William on April 29, 2011.
According to Express, it is highly likely that the Duchess of Cambridge’s life will be very different if she didn’t marry the second in line to the throne. But it is also possible that she will continue to work in the retail sector.
The publication also claimed that Middleton may work as a buyer, and she may also branch out into other areas such as womenswear and kidswear. But even though the future Queen could excel in this type of job, it wasn’t something that impressed Queen Elizabeth years ago.
In the book “The Making of a Royal Romance,” royal author Katie Nicholl said that Her Majesty was worried about Prince William’s choice of the bride because she felt that Middleton didn’t have an identity of her own.
“Privately she had grave concerns and believed that Kate needed to have a job and identity in her own right before an engagement was announced,” Nicholl said.
Royal expert Phil Dampier also said that the monarch felt that Middleton wasn’t doing enough when she first joined the royal family. However, this could be because Prince William was just being overprotective of his wife.
“Kate was William’s girlfriend for eight or nine years before they got engaged and got married. There was a phase where she appeared to be doing very little really. The Queen once remarked Kate doesn’t do very much so I think she had a fairly long entrance to the Royal family,” Dampier said.
At present, the Queen and Middleton’s relationship has already improved. In fact, the Duchess of Cambridge is also being groomed by the monarch for her future role as Queen.
