Kate Middleton’s wedding earrings had a secret message, and it is only being revealed almost seven years after she wed Prince William.

According to Express, Middleton’s earrings cost over $20,000, and they were commissioned by her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, from a small jeweler.

The earrings were also inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge’s heritage, and it featured a leaf and acorns set in white gold, which was a nod at Middleton’s coat of arms. The earrings were also adorned with diamonds and were paired with her Cartier halo tiara that was lent to her by Queen Elizabeth II.

Middleton’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, and her mom, Carole, also commissioned pieces of jewelry from the same jeweler. Carole wore a diamond pendant, while Pippa wore a pair of earrings with floral design.

Even the Duchess’ dad, Michael, had a golden stick with acorns and leaves pinned on his attire. All of their jewelries were symbolic of not only their heritage, but Middleton’s coat of arms.

Meanwhile, Reader’s Digest reported last week that Middleton’s wedding dress also had a secret message. At first glance, her long-sleeved gown had stunning details and embroideries in the arms area. But looking at it closely, the embroidered details represented the national emblems of the four countries in the United Kingdom: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Additionally, Express reported that Middleton’s dress also had a “secret feature” that helped her look thinner on her big day. The wedding gown was designed to have extra padding around the hips to accentuate Middleton’s slim figure.

In other news, Middleton’s brother-in-law, Prince Harry, will soon be marrying his fiancée, Meghan Markle. Just like Middleton, it is expected that Markle’s wedding dress and accessories will feature secret messages that are close to her heart.
