Kate Winslet Wants To Reprise ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Role And Not ‘Titanic’
Kate Winslet has starred in multiple films such as “Titanic,” “The Reader,” “Sense and Sensibility” and more, but it is her role in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” that she wants to reprise.
In the 2004 film, Winslet played the role of Clementine. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress admitted that she would love to revisit the same role 13 years later.
“Actually, she’s one I’d love to play again because it was just so much fun. And the possibilities for the hair colors were just endless. Wouldn’t you like to see Clementine as a 42-year-old woman? I’d love to know what happened to her. I love the idea that she just let herself get really fat and just totally let go of her hang ups about her body and just indulged in everything that made her feel happy. And more hair colors and more crazy clothes! I just think the could’ve been fun,” she said.
“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” followed the life of Clementine as she underwent a procedure to erase the memories of her ex-boyfriend, Joel (Jim Carrey), from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going through all lengths to forget about their relationship, he decides to undergo a similar procedure and starts forgetting her.
Meanwhile, even though Winslet did not say anything about wanting to reprise her role as Rose in “Titanic,” the actress dished on her upcoming reunion with director James Cameron. He is currently directing an upcoming “Avatar” film, where Winslet will play the role of Ronal.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cameron is set to direct all four sequels of “Avatar,” with the first installment scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2020. Winslet said that she is expecting to spend only a month filming her part, but added that Ronal will play a crucial role in the story. “I’m not really allowed to say anything, but it’s a pivotal role,” she said.
Winslet just wrapped up production for “Wonder Wheel,” and the film is slated for a limited release starting Dec. 1.
