Katie Holmes' Boyfriend Dumped Fiancée Via Text Just Before 'Date' With Actress, Source Says

Katie Holmes and new man Emilio Vitolo appeared smitten with each other in their recent dates, but new reports said the chef had been engaged shortly before his PDA-packed outings with the actress.

After a couple of sightings, details are now emerging about the Holmes' 33-year-old boyfriend, whose family's restaurant, Emilio's Ballato in SoHo, is a celebrity hotspot. A source has told Us Weekly that Vitolo was engaged to designer and Anna Rachel Studio owner Rachel Emmons before he was seen with the actress.

The insider claimed that Vitolo's ex-fiancée was "heartbroken and embarrassed" when he broke up with her via text message.

Another report claimed Vitolo broke up with Emmons just before the outlet released photos of him and Holmes getting cozy at a New York restaurant. One close friend of the 24-year-old designer branded Vitolo a "cheater," according to the report.

"Up to this press coming out, Rachel had no idea what was going on. He is a cheater, and this isn't a ‘happy ending' story," an anonymous pal of Emmons told Daily Mail.

The source also claimed that Emmons and Vitolo were living together and had gotten a dog in May. According to the unnamed insider, Emmons thought that she would tie the knot with Vitolo as they already had wedding plans, but “she is just left with bad press and forced to move home.”

Neither Vitolo nor Emmons has released a statement addressing the claims in the report.

A quick browse on Emmons’ Instagram account shows that they had still been together around late July. The last photo of her with the chef was posted on July 27 and shows them cuddling on a boat.

"Favorite person I’ve ever met. This past year I have loved you more every day as I get to know you better. Let’s keep this magic going," Emmons captioned a black-and-white photo of her kissing Vitolo that was uploaded in November 2019.

In February last year, Emmons shared a selfie of her and Vitolo in which she showed off her diamond engagement ring. In the caption, she said, "The most celebratory, generous, honest, genuine person I’ve ever met. You always have my back and make every day a new adventure. You walk into a room and people gravitate to you. I couldn’t feel more lucky to spend the rest of my life with you. @emiliovitolo."
