Katie Thurston Slams Critics After Revealing She 'Took An Edible'
“Bachelorette” star Katie Thurston fired back at critics after her recent tweet drew negative comments. The hullabaloo came after Thurston shared on social media that she “just took an edible” and was “laying on the floor of my living room.”
“I just took an edible, laying on the floor of my living room surrounded by responsibilities, all while listening to medication music on Spotify,” she wrote, suggesting she ate marijuana-infused food product. And "How are you?"
The tweet initially earned positive comments from fans, with one telling her, “You are my person! Edibles, meditation music, zoning out, avoiding responsibilities… sorry Blake, I’d like to steal your girl and be her BFF.”
One user also asked Thurston if she actually meant “meditation” instead of “medication,” to which she replied, “Hahahahaha yes but in some ways, I guess it’s medication for the mind. Or maybe this edible already hit.”
While the post drew positive comments from Thurston’s fans, it also earned unfavorable comments from critics. “Not a very good model to the younger viewers of @bachnation,” one user wrote. The “Bachelorette” alum immediately clapped back, tweeting, “Because I’m consuming a legal drug at a legal age within a legal state?”
Others went on to point their fingers at Thurston for promoting marijuana, with one posting a GIF of a woman dancing outrageously with her mouth wide open. “Katie in about 10 minutes,” the Twitter user captioned the tweet. Thurston also responded to the comment, saying, “I said edibles, not bath salts.”
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Blake Moynes was with Thurston when she posted the tweet. Last week, the couple took their romance to Moynes’ hometown in Canada after getting engaged in the “Bachelorette” season 17 finale.
Earlier on Sunday, an online troll told her that her “Bachelorette” season was “the worst by far,” and Thurston quickly responded to the criticism by posting, “Thank you for your feedback.”
