Katy Perry Celebrates With Pets After Winning Battle With Nuns Over Convent
Katy Perry just took her pet dogs for a stroll in lower Manhattan after winning her case against nuns who tried to stop her from buying a convent. Orlando Bloom’s ex reportedly wants to transform the property into her dream home.
On Wednesday, Perry uploaded an adorable video of her mixed-breed dogs taking a stroll along the streets of New York City while donning a formal attire on Instagram. The singer-songwriter used her latest single, “Chained To The Rhythm,” as background music for the footage.
Many of Perry’s fans couldn’t help but be entertained by the video and leave positive comments about it. One fan commented: “Aww so cute ur [sic] lucky you have such cute puppies.” Another wrote: “This is so cute and funny too.”

Hours prior to sharing the clip on Instagram, a Los Angeles judge had already declared that the California Institute of the Sisters has clear title to the convent Perry is trying to purchase to convert into her dream home. The religious institute, which is controlled by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles, can now complete the sale to Bloom’s ex-girlfriend, according to BuzzFeed.
The nuns of the convent and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles previously fought over who had rights to the 8-acre property. Perry had already voiced her desire to buy the convent in 2015, but the nuns wanted to sell the property to local restaurateur Dana Hollister for $15.5 million.
Prior to the judge’s ruling, the nuns voiced their disdain for Perry and even accused the latter of practicing witchcraft. One of the nuns, 78-year-old Rita Callanan, even told the media, “I do not like Katy Perry’s lifestyle. I have a lot of the things from the internet to show the Archdiocese what kind of woman she was. Some of the things she does are disgusting.”
Meanwhile, Perry has another reason to smile this weekend despite of her recent breakup with Bloom. The “Dark Horse” singer is apparently invited to the Human Rights Campaign’s 2017 Los Angeles Gala Dinner this Saturday, where she will be honored with the National Equality Award for her work in advocating for equal rights.
