Katy Perry Engaged? Rumored Engagement Ring Spotted On ‘Roar’ Singer’s Hand, Did John Mayer Propose? [PHOTO]

Katy Perry was all smiles on the red capet of the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam on Sunday. She sported a diamond ring on a very important finger, prompting rumors that her boyfriend of one year, singer John Mayer, had proposed.

Despite showing off the rumored engagement ring to photographers, a rep for the 29-year-old “Roar” singer confirmed Perry is not engaged to be married to the 36-year-old performer. "It was just a ring that went with the outfit,” the singer’s rep told Us Weekly Monday, adding, "She's not engaged.”

According to a report from Yahoo!, the rumored engagement ring was the only piece of jewelry Perry was spotted wearing on the red carpet. “It was as though she purposely wanted us to notice the potential engagement bling,” read the report. Us Weekly reported that the diamond sparkler was joined by a mint green Zac Posen dress, light pink Charlotte Olympia shoes and a Dolce & Gabbana headband.

The rumored engagement comes just weeks after a source confided to Us Weekly that Mayer would soon propose to the pop star. "Everyone knows it's just a question of when John will propose,” revealed the insider, who also gave details about the famous duo’s close relationship. “[They] realize they must be together. They Skype and text all day. John always checks in before bed!”

Life & Style first reported in August that the “Your Body Is a Wonderland” singer was planning to propose to Perry by Christmas. “John wants to do something special probably around the holidays,” a friend close to the couple revealed to the magazine, adding, “There are a lot of options on the table. Nothing is ruled out. It could happen on a romantic getaway or during a family dinner."
