Katy Perry Teases New Music While Joking About Drawing On Her Tooth
Katy Perry is working on new music!
The “Rise” singer took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes videos of her in the studio. Perry said she had a little break from work and decided to draw on her tooth. While Perry meant to share a joke about what she did to her tooth, she also slyly teased a snippet of one of the songs that may be included in her upcoming record.
While the clip is not long enough to give away anything, it did hint that the song will have an ‘80s synth-heavy vibe to it. In another clip, Perry gave a preview of another song. In the frame is a man playing a six-stringed bass guitar.
Fans of the singer have been asking for new music from her for a while now. Perry’s manager said the record was due to be released this year, according to Billboard, but Perry’s active participation in Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign may have contributed to the delay.
Early this year, Perry told the New York Times that she was in the “research and development phase” of her new album. “I do my records in a more traditional way, where the cycle is three years, so that once I start writing them, I know exactly where I’ll be in spring 2018,” Perry said. “That can be a little bit like, ‘Ugh.’ I need a little bit more freedom, especially when I’ve been doing it for this long.”
The singer added that she’s been in the business for quite some time now, so she’s taking the liberty to focus on what she really wants to say and not try to do what other musicians are doing.
Speaking of how she thinks her music affects others, Perry said: “The only thing that is on my mind when creating music is being authentic and vulnerable and making sure that it connects. And I know that it does connect because numbers don’t lie.”
Perry’s last album, “Prism,” was released in 2013.
