Kelly Clarkson Granted Single Status Amid Brandon Blackstock Divorce

Kelly Clarkson is now legally single amid her divorce from her estranged husband Brandon Blackstock.

The 39-year-old singer has been granted her single status back by the court, according to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly Friday.

The papers indicated that a judge signed off on Clarkson and Blackstock’s single status last month. The “American Idol” winner’s maiden name has also been reinstated.

Clarkson and Blackstock’s “marital or domestic partnership status” will officially end on Jan. 7, 2022, which will be less than two years since the Grammy-winning singer filed for divorce in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences.

Another recent triumph for Clarkson has to do with the house she formerly shared with the high-profile talent manager. The eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom property in Encino, California, was officially sold for over $8 million on Thursday, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Their former family home was custom built by the “Because Of You” songstress. The estate that features a fitness center, a multi-level pool and a theater is located in the Royal Oaks neighborhood.

Amid her ongoing legal battle with Blackstock, Clarkson is currently preparing for the release of her holiday album “When Christmas Comes Around” on Oct. 15.

One of the tracks on the LP record is already getting attention online for its not-so-hidden message for her estranged spouse. Entitled “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),” Clarkson told ET that she made it because she was inspired by the fact that she’s now “in a different place after the last couple of years.”

“‘Christmas Isn't Canceled (Just You)' is the single for the record, and honestly I was very nervous about sending it to the label 'cause it's not a typical Christmas single, believe that,” she added.

Clarkson also did not shy away from talking about failed relationships in her recent interview with the outlet while discussing her inspiration when she wrote the song.

“I think if you'd been in a relationship that didn't work out and you're used to these surroundings, you're used to this place, it was like, OK, it didn't work out. That doesn't mean it's all ruined. That doesn't mean everything's over,” she explained.

The singer-songwriter continued, “So I wrote this whole song just at my house and without a track or anything. Just wrote the melody and lyrics out and had this whole idea for 'Christmas Isn't Canceled (Just You)' because…the song sounds happy but it's kind of a very funny lyric.”

Clarkson, who appears in the current season of “The Voice” as one of the judges, tied the knot with Blackstock in 2013. They have two kids together, River, 7, and Remington, 5, but Blackstock also has two children from a previous relationship, Savannah, 19, and Seth, 14.
