  • Kelly Flanagan shared that she has been "exhausted" due to Lyme disease
  • The former "Bachelor Nation" star has "some good days and some bad days" due to the condition
  • Flanagan previously thought that the initial symptoms were due to her stint on the reality show

Kelly Flanagan got candid about her struggles after she was diagnosed with Lyme disease.

The former "Bachelor Nation" contestant attended the Revolve Gallery NYFW Presentation Thursday. At the event, she spoke with E! News and gave an update on her Lyme disease diagnosis and how the condition affected her life.

"I've been exhausted. This is the first actual day that we've been moving and grooving," Flanagan told the outlet. "I'm trying to take it easy and just trying to do whatever I possibly can."

She continued, "You have some good days and you have some bad days. This morning, I wasn't doing the best. Right now, I got some energy back."

She added that she noticed a difference in her health when she was filming "The Bachelor" in 2020. According to her, she was "a lot more moodier in certain situations." She was aware that it "wasn't me totally." She admitted that her-costars and the staff were aware that she had health issues at the time.

"Everyone on the show knew I had issues health-wise when I was there. Every single girl in the house knew that I wasn't doing so well. They just thought that maybe [I had] a typical cold or something, but now it makes a little bit more sense," she continued.

Flanagan said that the Lyme disease symptoms she experienced didn't raise any red flags because the thought they stemmed from her stint on the dating show.

"The anxiety which I also thought was brought on from the show... 'Maybe it was the Lyme. Maybe it was the show?'... I can go on a list of things that have affected me," she said.

Flanagan is currently single and she is not looking for love. She is focused on her health but remains open for a potential love if the right person comes along.

"I'm single right now, very single, which I'm OK with," she said. "I mean, it'd be great if someone came into my life, but right now I just have to figure out my health."

Several celebrities have been open about their struggles with Lyme disease. Amy Schumer asked the online world for advice about the condition in September 2020 saying she has had the disease for years.

"Can you have a glass of wine or 2 on it? I know to stay out of the sun. I’m also taking these herbs from cape cod called lyme-2. Please comment or text me on my number in my bio. I also want to say that I feel good and am excited to get rid of it," she wrote on Instagram.

Yolanda Hadid and her two children Bella and Anwar also suffered from the same condition. In a previous interview, Gigi said it was difficult to see her mom and two siblings struggle with Lyme disease. She also admitted to Elle that she felt a lot of guilt for "being the one person in the family who didn't understand what they were going through."
