‘Kevin Can Wait’ Season 2 Production Begins; Leah Remini Shares First Photo
The production for “Kevin Can Wait” Season 2 has officially begun, and cast member Leah Remini made sure to document it on social media.
On Saturday, the actress posted a photo of herself with her co-star, Kevin James, from the hit CBS sitcom via her Instagram account. In the snap, Remini is wearing an all-black ensemble and looking away from the camera. James, on the other hand, is wearing a navy blue shirt and khaki pants. He also had a white cup in his hand.
Remini captioned the photo by saying that she had an amazing first week on the set of “Kevin Can Wait” Season 2. The actress also called the cast, crew, writers and staff of the sitcom her “family.”
In June, it was announced that Remini will reprise her role as Vanessa Cellucci in Season 2. The character was first introduced in the finale episode for Season 1 as Kevin’s partner at the police department. The two worked together on a case while Kevin was still officially unemployed. After completing their mission, Kevin returned home to his wife, Donna (Erinn Hayes), and found out that she already quit her job as a nurse at the school.
A day later, CBS also confirmed that Hayes will no longer return to “Kevin Can Wait” Season 2 since the sitcom will be undergoing a creative shift. Hayes herself expressed her sadness over being let go from the show just after one season. One month later, the network also revealed that when Season 2 premieres in the fall, Donna would have already died, and Kevin and his kids will be coping with their loss.
But even though Hayes will no longer be part of “Kevin Can Wait” Season 2, the actress already has a new project up her sleeves. In July, Hayes was cast in Amazon’s “The Dangerous Book for Boys” as Beth in the six-episode series. According to Deadline, the series will also feature Chris Diamantopoulos as twin brothers Patrick and Uncle Terry. The release date for the show hasn’t been confirmed.
“Kevin Can Wait” Season 2 will premiere on CBS on Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. EST.
