Kidnappers Beat New York Teen With Baseball Bat For 12 Hours, Dump Her On Road
A 16-year-old New York girl was beaten with a baseball bat for 12 long hours by her kidnappers, doused in bleach, and abandoned on the side of the road, authorities said.
The victim was being held captive at a house in Malone, a village near the U.S.-Canada border, on the evening on Dec. 9, Malone Police Department said in a news release Monday.
Malone Village Police Chief Christopher J. Premo told My Malone Telegraph that deputies were contacted shortly after 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Three persons, ranging in age between 26 and 30, were arrested in connection with the vicious assault.
The assailants beat the girl with a metal basketball bat over the course of 12 hours and doused her with Clorox, a brand of household bleach, during her captivity. The girl was then put into a car with substantial injuries and was driven to Bangor, a neighboring town, where she was dumped by the roadside in freezing weather, Miami Herald reported.
The girl then strolled to a house on Webster Mill Road in Bangor, where the occupants dialed 911, police said. Premo told the outlet that arriving deputies rushed the girl to the Alice Hyde Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries.
The deputies questioned the girl later, and based on her account, authorities arrested the three culprits, the residents of Malone, on first-degree assault and kidnapping charges.
Neither the victim's identity nor the motive behind the assault was disclosed by the authorities.
The detainees, identified as Brittany Vanderwerker, 30; Chauntell Faubert, 28; and Michael Vanderwerker, 26, were held on bail, according to My Malone Telegram.
Police arrested two more individuals, Chad Clemen, 22, and Brian Richards, 29, in connection with the assault after a controlled substance was found in the vehicle the victim was in, NBC 5 reported.
Police executed a search warrant on the home where the girl was being held in Malone. The investigation is still underway and more arrests are likely, NBC 5 reported.
No further details about the incident were released by the Malone Police Department.
