Kim Jong Un Threatening War? North Korean Missile Propaganda Discovered Near Seoul
North Korean propaganda boasting about the isolated nation's missile capabilities was discovered outside of Seoul in South Korea, reported the Yonhap News Agency Friday. It marked the first time the country has sent propaganda to its neighbor since the apparent assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korea's dictatorial leader Kim Jong Un.
After being alerted to the issue, police collected more than 800 pamphlets outside of an apartment complex in the city of Incheon near Seoul. The propaganda touched on perhaps the expected subjects. It criticized its neighbors to the South and featured pictures of missiles, Yonhap reported. The leaflets were given to the military to look over.
Despite the South Korean government urging citizens not do so, an activist group called the Fighters for a Free North Korea has hatched a plan to send pamphlets to the North early next week, Yonhap reported.
Kim Jong Un has ramped up his rhetoric in recent weeks, particularly toward the South and the United States, despite the controversy over the death of his half-brother who died Feb. 13 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia after reportedly being sprayed with a fast-acting poison.
Under the direction of President Donald Trump, the White House is reportedly considering military options for stopping Kim from developing a reliable, long-range missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Kim has carried out numerous missiles tests, while the U.S. and South Korea recently began large-scale military drills. That was not well received by North Korea.
"Now that the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean puppet forces again kicked off the dangerous nuclear war drills against the DPRK at its doorstep, our army will counter them with the toughest counteractions as it had already declared," a spokesman for the Korean People's Army said in a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). "Should the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean puppet forces fire even a single shell into the waters where the sovereignty of our Republic is exercised, the KPA will immediately launch its merciless military counter-actions."
