  • Kardashian urged the Bureau of Prisons to temporarily release Eli Torres for his daughter's funeral
  • The bureau denied her request, Kentucky State Rep Attica Scott revealed
  • Scott sent a letter to President Joe Biden asking him to grant the family's request

Kim Kardashian has called for the temporary prison release of a father whose child was killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on May 24. The beauty mogul took to Instagram on Thursday to request the Federal Bureau of Prisons to temporarily release Eli Torres so he could bid a final farewell to his deceased 10-year-old daughter.

Sharing a photo of the elementary school student, Kardashian wrote, “This is Eliahana ‘Ellie’ Cruz Torres, 10 years old, and one of the 19 victims of the shooting in Uvalde, TX. Her family are desperately hoping that her father, who is incarcerated for a non-violent drug offense, be granted temporary release so that he can attend her funeral.”

“I ask the @Bureauofprisons to grant Eli Torres temporary release so that he can say his last goodbye to his baby girl. Every parent deserves that right,” she continued.

Eli is currently imprisoned in Pine Knot, Kentucky, and is set to be released in 2033. Kentucky State Representative Attica Scott revealed on Twitter that the Federal Bureau of Prisons has denied the request to allow Eli to attend the funeral of his daughter.

Scott, however, revealed she had sent a letter to President Joe Biden and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to grant the request.

Posting a copy of the letter she had sent to Biden and Beshear, Scott wrote, “While the Bureau of Prisons has denied the request to allow Eliahna’s father to attend her funeral, our advocacy on behalf of her family must persist.”

The letter reveals that the child was only one week away from having physical contact with her father when the shooting incident took place.

“If Eliahna’s father’s rehabilitation record and behavior as an inmate would merit, this family would greatly appreciate him to be able to unite with them as they mourn the loss of their family member, Eliahna Cruz Torres,” she wrote in the letter.

The shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24 left 19 children and two teachers dead. In a series of tweets at the time, Kardashian called for a ban on semi-automatic weapons, saying she’s “disgusted and furious” about how lawmakers have done so little to enact gun laws that will protect children.

“I’m urging our leaders to come together and put politics aside and put children first,” she tweeted.
