  • Kardashian banned everyone from posting about the getaway during the five-day celebrations

Kim Kardashian flew her family and close friends to a private island last week to celebrate her 40th birthday. The getaway and lavish bash cost the beauty mogul a whopping $1 million, a report said.

Earlier this week, Kardashian shared details and photos from her extravagant birthday celebration on Instagram and Twitter, saying her inner circle quarantined and had multiple screenings before leaving Los Angeles. The reality star, who turned 40 on Oct. 21, said that she surprised them with a getaway to a private island “where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.”

This birthday bash apparently cost an arm and a leg, with Page Six estimating the expenses to have totaled $1 million. Kardashian reportedly chartered an 88-seat Boeing 777 to fly less than 30 attendees to a luxurious private island resort in French Polynesia.

An unnamed source told the outlet that Kardashian and her family enjoyed guided treks through the lush island, known locally as Tetiaroa Atoll, spa treatments and posh dinners, but her guests were all “banned from posting on social media by Kim to ensure her privacy.”

“The group was limited to Kim’s closest family and friends. Everyone on the trip was repeatedly tested for COVID before they left in the middle of the night on a private Boeing 777,” the insider said.

The group flew out on Oct. 20 aboard Crystal Cruises’ Boeing 777-200LR and stayed at the lavish resort, which has just 35 villas, for five days. Called The Brando, the location is said to be one of the “finest eco-friendly resorts in the world.”

This news comes a day after Kardashian faced backlash for her birthday celebration. The reality star received criticism on social media over her post after she said that she was aware this experience was “so far out of reach” for most people nowadays.

“[S]o in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” Kardashian tweeted, prompting netizens to slam the KKW Beauty mogul.

“If you understood your privilege then you would’ve kept this private instead of posting it for all the less privileged to see,” one Twitter user commented on her post.

“And this is a photo of Americans waiting in line at a food bank,” actress Melissa Gilbert tweeted. “It is a privilege not to have to do this. Perhaps a birthday post wishing everyone in America who is not you, good health, safety and food security during this time instead of this. Tone deaf much?”
