Kim Kardashian Wedding Cost

The venue, the dress, the food, the cake, the flowers — the list goes on for wedding essentials, which can cost a betrothed couple a small fortune. Popular wedding website TheKnot.com estimated that the average wedding in the U.S., without factoring in a honeymoon, costs just under $30,000. But Kim Kardashian is not your average gal.

The 33-year-old three-time bride has spent a staggering $30 million (give or take) on her trifecta of weddings — two of which fizzled — in her lifetime so far. (Some tabloid sources are claiming the cost was up to $50 million.) That’s still only a fraction of the cost of the most famous wedding of the 20th century: Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s 1981 nuptials, which, adjusted for inflation, cost $110 million in today's dollars.

Kardashian wed 36-year-old rapper Kanye West on Saturday at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. Both the bride and the groom wore Givenchy. The festivities began on Thursday with a lavish Parisian bachelorette party for Kardashian and her gaggle of girlfriends at Hotel Costes. The group then took a tour of the Trocadero, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, where they finished with a private party. On Friday, guests gathered for a pre-wedding brunch at designer Valentino‘s French château and reconvened the Palace of Versailles for the rehearsal dinner with a performance by Lana Del Rey.

In 2011, Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries at a private California estate and filed for divorced 72 days later. The over-the-top ceremony was documented by E!, which also produces Kardashian’s reality show and reportedly paid for the nuptials. Before that, Kardashian eloped with producer Damon Thomas in a much more quiet ceremony and divorced three years later.

Following the same path as her career from a rich California girl working as Paris Hilton’s stylist to one-half of the “World’s Most Talked About Couple,” Kardashian’s marriage ceremonies have become more costly over the years. Here’s a breakdown of her wedding expenses, which, when combined, cost nearly three times the amount of her and West’s $11 million dream home.

Wedding One Estimated Cost: $60

When she was just 19 years old, Kardashian wed Underdog Entertainment music producer Damon Thomas in a secret wedding in Las Vegas in 2000. The couple divorced three years later after the starlet reported years of abuse. Very little is known about the wedding, but we know it costs $60 for a couple to obtain a marriage license in Las Vegas. The divorce wasn't nearly as cheap: Thomas reportedly had to give Kardashian a $56,000 lump-sum payment as part of their 2004 agreement.

Wedding Two Estimated Cost: As much as $20 Million

While her second marriage to Kris Humphries was short-lived, the bill for the extravagant festivities was sizeable, estimated to be as high as $20 million. However, the couple didn’t shell out for “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding” themselves—E! News reportedly footed most of the bill in exchange for exclusive rights to air the ceremony, which drew in a record-breaking 10 million viewers. Kardashian also received other wedding essentials with compliments of brands that were eager for the exposure: like three Vera Wang gowns, all for Kim, costing $20,000 each. Use of the venue at the Sotto Il Monte estate in Montecito, California, and their $20,000 black and white Hansen’s Bakery cake were also complimentary. And Humphries reportedly received a hefty discount on Kardashian’s 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring with an estimated worth of $2 million. On top of that, Kardashian and Humphries reportedly received $1.5 million from People magazine in exchange for exclusive rights to their wedding photos. In total, the couple made $17.9 million, according to The New York Post, for their 72 days of marriage in 2011, or $248,611 a day. However, they both had to pay for an undisclosed amount in attorney’s fees, presumably not discounted, to divorce, TMZ reported.

Wedding Three Estimated Cost: As much as $30 million

The numbers are still trickling in — and we still don’t know exactly what was free and what Kimye paid for — but based on a roundup of reports, the big day (or week, rather) may have cost a whopping $30 million. E! News reported the Italian vow-exchanging ceremony and reception on Saturday cost $2.8 million, but that doesn’t include extravagant pre-wedding festivities. The foreign affair, which made stops in Paris before moving to Florence for the actual nuptials, required transportation and accommodations for the guests in addition to wedding essentials like a dress, food and entertainment. Though we still don’t know if anything was given to the couple free in exchange for publicity, here’s a preliminary breakdown of expenditures:

Wedding venue, Fort Belvedere in Florence: $410,000 according to the Florence mayor’s office

Rehearsal dinner in Parisian chateau: $681,600 (or $2,000 per person)

Fireworks display after rehearsal dinner: $204,210

Custom Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci wedding dress, estimated cost: $500,000

Musical performance by Lana Del Rey: $2.8 million

Musical performance by Andrea Bocelli: as much as $1.36 million according to E!

Accommodations (in Florence at the Westin Excelsior and in Paris at Hôtel George V): estimated at $500,000 for 200 guests, People reported

Cake: $5,500, according to Marie Claire

Balmain bachelorette party dress: $16,000

Reception catering by Galateo: $110,000 for 200 people

Valentino pre-wedding brunch gown: $66,700

Bachelorette party: $4,100

Transportation from Paris to Florence: $218,000 (Two $74,000 private jets and $70,000 for 45 to 50 shuttle cars to and from the Florence airport)

Hair and makeup: $65,000

Wedding flowers: $136,000

The grand total? $30 million, or 75 Lamborghini Aventador cars. Or the same amount Mark Zuckerberg spent on four houses in his neighborhood. We thought that was outrageous too, but at least he has four more houses to show for it. Kimye just has Instagram photos.
