  • Queen Elizabeth did not attend the Braemar Games ceremony this year due to health issues

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla sent their special message to everyone for the holiday season by sharing their Christmas card on social media.

The new king and his wife stuck with the tradition by sharing a candid photo for their first Christmas card on Instagram after he took over the throne following Queen Elizabeth's death three months ago. King Charles and Camilla's card was embossed in red ink with a short and sweet holiday message.

"Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year," the message read.

The snap was taken at the Braemar Games in September by royal photographer Sam Hussein.

The Braemar Games date back nearly 1,000 years ago and host thousands of people to watch the athletic events, bagpipe competitions and dancing with the monarch presiding over the festival, Fox News Digital reported.

However, Queen Elizabeth did not attend the ceremony this year due to her health issues. She passed away on Sept. 8. She was 96.

Royal fans complimented King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla's Christmas card. Many found the photograph "lovely" and "beautiful."

"What a lovely photograph. Happy Christmas," one commented. Another added, "What a beautiful picture."

"Lovely picture. The photo was taken 5 days before Charles became King, at the Braemar Games. Touching choice," a third user opined.

"Merry Xmas to the King and Queen consort and a Happy New Year," a royal supporter wrote.

"I have never been a great follower of the Royal family, but I do think Charles will make a great King along with Camilla as Queen Consort!!! They look great together, and he truly deserves to be King!!! Harry and Meghan are disgraceful to the Royal Family, they should have all titles taken away. At the end of the day, all they are interested in is the 100million from Netflix!!!!!" a fifth user added.

Last week, the first three episodes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" started streaming. The royal couple brought up the previous drama they had already spilled, prompting some to wonder how the royal family felt about it.

British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower told Page Six that King Charles didn't want to be involved in the Sussexes' drama.

"The whole problem is that Charles hates confrontation, and someone who had dinner with him earlier this week told me that he wants to stay out of it," Bower claimed to the outlet. "But I think that it'll be impossible for him to stay out of it."

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will join Kate Middleton and Prince William this week for the second annual Christmas special organized by the Princess of Wales. The "Royal Carols: Together At Christmas" concert will happen at Westminster Abbey on Thursday. It will air on ITV on Christmas Eve.
