Kingdom Hearts III is far from release, but that doesn’t mean we have to be totally clueless about the game’s story. At a recent franchise anniversary concert in Japan, character dialogues for Kairi and Xion were featured. KH13 offers the full translations.

Both monologues were performed by Rise Uchida, the Japanese actress for the two characters. Story SPOILERS for Kingdom Hearts III and other franchise titles follow this sentence.

Kairi:

I didn't notify you but you might've already heard from Yen Sid-sama. I've come to train to become a Keyblade wielder. Until now, I've only been waiting for you guys to come back from your journey. Maybe with this I can at least help out a little.

The magician Merlin-sama can use magic that surpasses time. Here, we can forget about the flow of time. Isn't it great?

Lea's training with me. He apologized to me over and over again. It's alright, I'd say, but he'd keep on apologizing... At first I was a bit scared, but, as we trained together, we started talking to each other. I found out Lea also has a best friend he wants to save. I felt like he's not a person that I can bring myself to hate...

Sometimes..... He'd stare at my face, so I'd ask him, what's wrong? "I don't know, but I feel like it's something I must recall", He'd say...

Your journey is a journey that will help many people, and the people you'll meet from now on. I have a feeling these people you meet will also need your help. The journey might be hard, but please stay as the cheerful and bright Sora I know, because your smile, will save many hearts.....

*end*

Xion:
On the day you first called my name it made me feel like I had a heart. If I hadn't met the two of you, I wonder how my "everyday" would've been. Day by day, repeating the days which were the same as every other. Even so, the red, setting sun, the taste of ice cream, those days when nothing happened were the most precious to me. All of it is my treasure.

Thank you for calling out my name. Thank you for inviting me to the clocktower. Thank you for picking up shells for me. Thank you for coming to bring me back. Thank you for letting me be your friend. I wish... those same old days could have continued on longer.... We wanted to go to the sea....

As those who’ve played Kingdom Hearts will know, Kairi and Xion share a special link because the latter is essentially created from Sora’s memories of his beloved female friend. We know both of these moments are canon to the series, and that could have a ton of relevance with regard to Kingdom Hearts III.

Kairi’s monologue more or less reveals to Sora the news that was presented to players at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 . Lea and Kairi are currently training to be keyblade masters, and it seems the former adversaries have become fast friends despite that whole kidnapping incident. While Lea hopes to find Roxas and Kairi works to unite with Sora, they’ve found that they share a common destiny. If we didn’t know better, we’d guess that partnership will play a big role in the upcoming installment.

There’s isn’t quite as much to say about Xion’s words, but they’re the wistful recollections of a character that has since passed. She’s thanking Roxas for the life he gave her by being her friend. Might this be a sign that Xion will return to form once this Kingdom Hearts saga is complete? It’s possible. After all, it’d be a weird choice to bring her back to promote the third game if she’s not involved in a big way. At the very least, her fate will likely cast a sizeable shadow over the narrative.

These segments were exclusively featured during the Japanese Kingdom Hearts anniversary concert in Japan on March 10. While there are U.S. and U.K. dates scheduled on the tour, it’s unclear if they’ll be getting the same type of treat. As a Japanese series, Kingdom Hearts news tends to be given carte blanche in its home region. However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the fairly recent screenshot debut at a conference in Monaco.

Kingdom Hearts III is in development for PS4 and Xbox One.
