Kings of Leon invited to write Bond theme
Kings Of Leon are considering recording the theme song for the untitled Bond 23rd movie.
The American band claims that it has been asked by Daniel Craig, the present Bond actor, thrice to record the theme. The band has turned down the request till now. But in a recent interview, the band members and brothers Nathan and Caleb Followill both said they may be interested in doing the song if asked one more time. Nathan said, Daniel Craig has asked me before.I have turned him down three times already but maybe. Caleb added , I've always wanted to work with strings so that would be a good excuse to do it.
Almost all Bond tracks have a heavy strings and cello influence. The band’s songs have been already used in three films ;I Am Number Four, Knocked Up and Cloverfield.
The band is in Edinburgh for a screening of their documentary at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
The band started off as a blues and rock band but has now evolved into alternative rock. The group found initial success in the United Kingdom with 9 top 40 UK single hits and two BRIT Awards.
It was their fourth album, “Only by the Night” (2008)which saw them hitting the top slot in the US. Their latest album is “Come Around Sundown”.
The band recently got into a tiff with the Glee creator ,Ryan Murphy, for not allowing them to use their songs on the show.
It is believed that the film makers are also keen on getting Adele to sing the theme song . If selected, Adele will join a select group of singers including Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Nancy Sinatra, Rita Coolidge, Madonna, Tina Turner and Alicia Keys.
The theme song for Quantum Of Solace was a collaboration between Jack White and Alicia Keys.
