Just a few days has passed by since “The Kissing Booth 2” made its debut on Netflix, and now the third installment of the hit romcom movie has been confirmed. Fortunately, for fans, they will not have to wait too long because it will be out next year. In fact, the original cast members Joey King, Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney have filmed secretly and it is already in post-production.
King, the lead star and exec producer, revealed the big news during a live stream fan event. They quietly filmed the second installment and "The Kissing Booth 3" in South Africa and it will be released in 2021, Deadline reported.
"It was the hardest secret to keep," Courtney said during the live event on Sunday.
"The Kissing Booth 3" will pick up where the second film left off. Elle (King) is grappling with where to attend college. She and her best friend Lee (Courtney) already agreed they would go to Berkley together. However, there was a change of plan after Elle's boyfriend and Lee's brother, Noah (Elordi), asked her to join him in Harvard. The last movie ended with a cliffhanger with Elle being accepted to both schools.
"The Kissing Booth 2" was released on July 24 and it was a huge success. In fact, it's the most-viewed movie or TV show on Netflix over the weekend, according to Forbes.
Vince Marcello who adapted and directed the first two films produced the second and third installments through his Picture Loom banner.
Elordi spoke about the movie and shared how he pulled off his character as the hot-tempered Noah Flynn. He said that in person he is actually not fussy.
"It was probably the fact that I'd never worked before in my entire life," he told Nine.com.au.
"I was doing every audition that'd come across my table from between the ages of 16 and 20. I'd done 100 auditions and 'The Kissing Booth' just happened to be the 100th."
Elordi recalled his excitement when he told his mom about landing a role for the movie. He said his efforts were paying off.
"I was so excited," Elordi shared. "I was with my mum and it felt like a lot of hard work was finally paying off."
