Lamar Odom’s 15-year-old son shared the first photograph of the athlete made public since he was hospitalized in October. To celebrate New Year’s Eve, Lamar Morales Odom posted on Instagram the photo of his father, his 17-year-old sister Destiny Odom and himself, as noted by Us Weekly:

The teen’s Instagram picture is the first time people have seen the former NBA star since he was found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada Oct. 13. Even though there have been conflicting reports about Odom’s health, it appears the athlete is well on his way to recovery.

In December, People magazine reported Odom still faced cognitive challenges but that it was “very possible” for him to have a healthy future.

“The amazing thing about the brain is that it’s sometimes able to repair itself beyond what one could have hoped for,” a source told the outlet. “It’s very possible that Lamar will do much better in the future. Right now, however, he still suffers many challenges.”

Sister-in-law Kim Kardashian West previously opened up about Odom’s recovery, telling E News in November that he had a “lot of work to do.”

“He’s here and he’s alive, but to say it’s not a long road and to say he’s fully better is not the truth, either,” she said. “He has a lot of work to do and a lot of communication therapy and having to learn to walk again and to talk again. You never know if he’ll ever be the same again.”

Odom’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian spent New Year’s Eve in Houston with boyfriend James Harden.
