Lamar Odom Update: Khloé Kardashian's Estranged Husband Should Enter Rehab After Hospital Release, Expert Says
Lamar Odom should head to rehab as soon as he gets out of the hospital, an addiction expert from Los Angeles said, according to a report Wednesday. The comments follow reports suggesting that cocaine and opiates were found in the former Los Angeles Lakers player’s system after he was found unconscious at a brothel last week.
Robert Weiss, an addiction specialist with Elements Behavioral Health, told Hollywood Life: “Given Lamar Odom’s traumatic past and extensive history of drug abuse, he needs inpatient residential care, and for his loved ones to also participate in that. Without this, he will likely end up in the same position again and again.”
Khloé Kardashian’s estranged husband, Odom, is currently said be on a road to recovery after he opened his eyes less than a week ago. He has also been able to talk and move from his bed with some help. However, his kidneys are reportedly failing and he is said to be getting six hours of dialysis at the Cedars-Sinai medical center in Los Angeles, where he was moved to Monday.
Reports on Wednesday also said that Kardashian has asked the courts to dismiss their divorce, amid Odom’s medical crisis, and the courts agreed to the request. Odom, 35, had reportedly signed the paperwork to dismiss the divorce from his bed at the hospital. Kardashian had also posted a message on Tuesday thanking those who sent “nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar.”
Kardashian, 31, was said to have been dating Houston Rockets player James Harden, and reports said that she called it quits on that relationship.
“James was fine with giving Khloé time and space to deal with Lamar, but never thought she would call off the divorce,” a source close to the couple told Hollywood Life Wednesday, adding: “James legitimately thought that they were still an item but this obviously makes things loud and clear that he is yesterday’s news.”
