Las Vegas Police Seek Serial Shooter Who Targeted Homeless
Las Vegas Police announced they are seeking the public’s help Tuesday in the hunt for a man who has shot four people and killed two of them.
Three of the shootings happened Jan. 29 and the other happened Feb. 2. Three of the four victims have been homeless and authorities said that the shootings have all been linked to the same gun. Three of the four victims were sleeping when they were shot.
“We must stop this man before he shoots and kills someone else,” said Capt. Robert Plummer of the Las Vegas Police at a press conference Tuesday.
The first victim was shot just after midnight on the 29th in a parking lot in Logandale, Nevada, located around 57 miles northeast of Las Vegas. That victim survived. The next shooting happened a few hours later at around 3 a.m. 51-year-old Brian Wayne Clegg was shot and killed as slept outside a shopping center.
The third victim of that night was another homeless man who was also shot in the face as he slept, but he survived.
The fourth victim was shot and killed while he slept under a bridge at around 4 a.m. on Feb. 2 near downtown Las Vegas. He was identified as 68-year-old James Edgar Lewis by a coroner — he was shot in the head. Police released a surveillance tape of the killing in an effort to help find the suspect.
“There's no fight. There's no argument. It's basically an execution,” said Lt. Dan McGrath during the press conference.
The suspect police are seeking is white or Hispanic and around six feet tall. He is driving a Hyundai Tucson sport limited SUV from between 2016 and 2018.
