It's the last dance for fashion and beauty pro Lauren Conrad and Dancing With the Stars professional Derek Hough, who have called it quits.

Their relationship reached its peak, a friend of Conrad's told Life & Style magazine. It was always casual.

Conrad only recently got out of a serious relationship. She dated My Boys actor Kyle Howard from 2008 to June of this year, Us Weekly reported.

Another source told Life & Style that Conrad did not take her relationship with the light-footed Hough too seriously.

This was a rebound that wasn't going to last, the source told the magazine. Derek never thought it would, either.

Us Weekly recently reported that Conrad had an awkward run-in with Howard, 33, at a Halloween party -- where she went sans Hough. A source said the 25-year-old beauty got flustered and ducked into the ladies' room to make sure she looked good. Conrad being Conrad, that should not have been a problem.

Conrad so far seems to be keeping mum on the breakup. There was nothing on her Twitter feed or Web site as of Monday morning that hinted at a breakup.
