Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon got candid about her and sister Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's emotional reunion with their mother, June "Mama June" Shannon.

Pumpkin, 21, and her younger sister, 15, recently met up with Mama June for the first time in over a year, and it was documented on their show "Mama June: Road to Redemption." During Friday's episode, they came face-to-face and had a tearful sit-down chat, where Honey Boo Boo cried while asking why her mom wasn't around on her first day of high school.

Pumpkin acknowledged that their mother has changed drastically since the last time they saw her.

"Before when mom called us and [said], 'You want to meet up?' it had been a year. It had been a year since we've seen her and the last time I seen her was when you all saw last season, me sit down on the couch with her, and that was not the same person that I met this time," she told People.

Pumpkin said of Mama June, "This person was a complete 360 from that person. She had gained weight, she had on decent-looking clothes. She actually looked put together instead of just a shambled mess."

The reunion was a big day and full of emotions for Pumpkin and sister Honey Boo Boo because both of them had not seen their mother in more than a year. Pumpkin said she was protecting her sister from their mom because seeing her in a messy situation wouldn't be healthy for the younger girl.

Mama June and her boyfriend Eugene Edward "Geno" Doak were arrested in March 2019, People previously reported. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after she was allegedly found with crack cocaine and a crack pipe. They were both hit with felony charges for drug possession in September 2019.

In April 2020, an Alabama judge ordered that Mama June's criminal trial be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Blast reported. She also sought help for her struggles with addiction and entered rehab to get sober. Her urine drug screen came back clean before she met up with her daughters.

During Mama June's reunion with her daughters, she told them that she was ready to make it up to them so they can be a family again.

"I know I was selfish when I went to rehab and to be honest with you, I'm still a little bit selfish in my recovery," Mama June said. "But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get you all back in my life and that's the reason why I'm here today."

"Mama June: Road to Redemption" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EDT on We tv.
