Leaked Live Photo Of The Huawei Mate 10 Shows It's Slim Bezels
Huawei has been teasing its upcoming Mate 10 flagship Android smartphone for some time now and it appears as though a live photo of the upcoming phone has already leaked. The photo of the Huawei Mate 10 shows off a new design up front with its very slim bezels.
The first live photo of the Huawei Mate 10 was shared on Twitter by often reliable leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks). Blass says that the photo of the Mate 10 was sent to him through a direct message on Twitter.
The Huawei Mate 10 appears to have very slim top and bottom bezels. Huawei CEO Richard Yu did tease back in July that the Mate 10 would arrive later this year with a “full-screen display.” The Mate 10 doesn’t seem to have a similar design to other “bezel-less” smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 or LG’s V30, but it did shrink down the bezels from the Mate 9.
The Huawei Mate 10 comes with a front-mounted fingerprint sensor. Huawei could have simply placed the fingerprint sensor on the back, but it looks like the company decided to cram the feature on the thin bezel just below the display, as pointed out by 9To5Google.
The Huawei Mate 9 arrived last year with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It remains unclear why Huawei decided to change the fingerprint sensor’s location on the Mate 10, but perhaps it may have something to do with the device’s other unknown features.
Overall, the leaked live photo of the Huawei Mate 10 seems to line up with the CAD renders published by Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) and Compareraja. Those CAD renders showed that the Mate 10 will feature a set of dual cameras on the back and a headphone jack on its top edge. Unfortunately, Blass didn’t share live photos of the Mate 10 from different angles to affirm the accuracy of the CAD renders.
The Huawei Mate 10 is expected to be powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 970 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset is also said to run Android 8.0 Oreo straight out of the box along with the company’s latest version of EMUI.
Earlier this week, Huawei the Huawei Mate 10 teaser seemingly took a jab at Apple’s facial recognition tech on the iPhone X. During Apple’s iPhone event last week, Craig Federighi tried to show off the iPhone X’s Face ID feature for the first time, but instead of unlocking the phone it asked him for the passcode. Apple has already explained what actually happened onstage, but that hasn’t stopped memes from pouring in.
Huawei is says the Mate 10 is going to be “The Real AI Phone.” Huawei Kirin 970 processor is designed to take faster photos and has its own Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that’s dedicated to artificial intelligence features. Huawei claims that its NPU will be more capable than the "neural engine" that's on the A11 Bionic ship inside the iPhone X, according to Phone Arena.
The Huawei Mate 10 is scheduled to be announced on Oct. 16.
