Leaked ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’ Trailer Features Prequel Trilogy, ‘Force Awakens’ Heroes
Electronic Arts was supposed to debut the trailer for the new “Star Wars: Battlefront II” this coming weekend during Star Wars Celebration. Surprisingly, someone already leaked the promotional material online this Tuesday.
According to Ars Technica, the trailer for the next “Star Wars” video game briefly appeared on EA’s official Twitter account. Although the clip has already been taken down, copies of the video are still spreading like wildfire among fans of the franchise. The trailer appears to be very promising as it presents some interesting bits about the next installment in the multiplayer-focused series.
For players who intentionally skipped the first “Battlefront,” they’ll likely end up purchasing the upcoming game since it will come with heroes not only from the prequel trilogy, but also from “Force Awakens.” The trailer reveals that there will be an expansion to “all eras” — something that many fans surely crave for.
Kotaku reports that while “Battlefront II” will come with a single-player campaign that’s likely centered around a post-Endor Empire, the multiplayer roster will be the driving force of players to securing a copy of the new game. After all, who wouldn’t want an expansion with four “Star Wars” movies included?
The leaked trailer also presents the different types of combats players can engage in when “Star Wars: Battlefront II” arrives. The multiplayer campaign allows battles on land, the air and in space. The clip even shows familiar characters duking it out in these combat modes.
Based on the trailer, players can now expect the appearance of older characters like Darth Maul and Yoda in the game. Of course, new characters Kylo Ren and Rey are also present. Other snippets also show Starkiller Base and a world that looks like Hoth.
The leaked trailer does not indicate the specific release date of the game, but The Verge speculates that “Battlefront II” will most likely come around the same time as the next “Star Wars” episode. This is because the teaser clip advises viewers to pre-order the game, so they can have access to the heroes from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
