Lee Min Ho Becomes 1st Korean Celebrity To Reach 20 Million Followers On Instagram

Actor and Hallyu Star Lee Min Ho officially became the first South Korean celebrity to gain 20 million followers on Instagram.
Lee Min Ho is a South Korean actor, singer, and model who rose to fame in 2009 for his lead role as Gu Jun Pyo in the popular Korean drama series "Boys Over Flowers." He is also known for his lead roles in various hit television series such as "Personal Taste" (2010), "The Heirs" (2013), "Legend of the Blue Sea" (2016), "The King: Eternal Monarch" (2020), and more.
With his global success and continuing popularity, Lee Min Ho has established himself as a top Hallyu star. The heartthrob has also gained a massive fanbase and strong influence across the world, especially in Asia, the U.S, France, Australia, Canada, Spain, and Italy.
On Oct. 4, Lee Min Ho’s official Instagram account crossed 20 million followers. Following this, his management agency, MYM Entertainment, took to Instagram to announce this achievement by posting a congratulatory message.
Previously, the 33-year-old actor also set the record for being the first Korean celebrity to have 20 million followers on his official Facebook account. The news was confirmed by his agency on Sept. 18, according to Allkpop.
The "Boys Over Flowers" actor has over 28.6 million followers on his official Weibo account and 3 million followers on his Twitter account, making him the only Korean artist to achieve such a wide-range presence on Social Media.
Lee Min Ho is also the first Korean celebrity to have a wax figure made in his image at Madame Tussauds. In 2017, the actor was chosen as the "Most Favored Korean Actor" by fans of the Korean Wave in the U.S.
He was chosen as the Honorary Ambassador for UNICEF's Love Net campaign in 2009 and 2010. In 2015, he was the Public Ambassador for the 'Korean Tourism Campaign,' also called 'The Face of Korean Tourism.'
In 2019, he was appointed as the Honorary Ambassador for the King Sejong Institute Foundation, a public institution established by the South Korean government to manage the distribution of Korean Culture and Korean language education abroad.
Meanwhile, after wrapping up his latest drama titled "The King: Eternal Monarch" the actor is taking a break from work and is currently reviewing several projects.
