‘Legally Blonde 3’ Update: Mindy Kaling, Dan Goor To Pen Reese Witherspoon’s Film

Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are co-writing Reese Witherspoon’s “Legally Blonde 3.”
Kaling and Goor will be working together for the third installment of “Legally Blonde.” It will be their second feature film together. They first worked together alongside Priyana Chopra for a wedding comedy.
“Legally Blonde 3” was confirmed years ago with Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah as scribes. Kaling and Goor will not be giving the original version a makeover. Instead, they will be sharing their fresh take on the film, Deadline reported.
Kaling confirmed this in a post on Instagram where she also expressed her excitement to work with Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter and Goor.
“Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people!” she added.
Kaling recently co-created Netflix’s highly acclaimed comedy series “Never Have I Ever.” She also co-created and executive produced “Four Weddings and a Funeral” for Hulu.
Furthermore, Kaling’s “Late Night” film, which she starred in, wrote and produced, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Amazon acquired it for $13 million. Kaling is also the executive producer and star of “The Mindy Project” on Fox. She has two SAG ensemble accolades and six Emmy nominations for NBC’s “The Office.”
Meanwhile, Goor has been recognized by Emmy twice as a writer of “The Daily Show” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” He is also the co-creator of Universal Television’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.”
Witherspoon will be reprising her role in “Legally Blonde 3” as attorney Elle Woods. The movie was first announced in June 2018.
“We’re definitely talking about it,” Witherspoon said when “Legally Blonde 3” was confirmed, People reported.
“I mean, it’s sort of about women being underestimated and I think it’s sort of a good idea. Things have changed, but not that much has changed! I loved playing that character and she’s so amazing. I don’t know, if you guys want it then I guess I’ll do it!"”
Speaking about her iconic attorney character, “The Morning Show” star recently said, “She’s a very beloved character. You just want her to go on a hero’s journey like she does in the first movie, and I’m having a great time working on it.”
