‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: Caity Lotz Confirms Plans For Sara’s New Love Interest
Caity Lotz confirmed that Sara is getting a new love interest on “Legends of Tomorrow.”
During a press visit on the Vancouver set of the CW series, Lotz told TVLine and other news outlets that there are plans to introduce a new love interest for Sara, but the actress isn’t sure whether her character will find real love this time around.
“They keep telling me there will be [a new romantic interest],” the 30-year-old actress said. “I don’t know if she will necessarily find love, but she is reflecting upon it. It is just really difficult to have a relationship when you live on a time ship.”
While finding and keeping real love is indeed not easy when you’re basically hopping from one time period to another, executive producer Phil Klemmer cited another reason why the writers are having a hard time giving Sara a deep and serious romantic relationship.
“I think the challenge for us as writers is she’s such a powerful, formidable, self-possessed, kick-ass woman,” Klemmer told ComicBook.com of Sara earlier this month. “Who is worthy of her? Because it’s a tall order to find a woman who is deserving of the great Sara Lance. That’s what we’re going to try to figure out, hopefully by the end of the season.”
Lotz has been very vocal about her desire for Sara to find real love on the show. During the CW Upfront back in April, Lotz told DC All Access that she’d like to see Sara have “a good relationship, not just a fling but like a real love relationship.”
“There have been a lot of flings for Sara, which has been fun,” Lotz told The Hollywood Reporter in the same month. “[But even though] it’s hard to have a relationship when you live on a time ship, I would love for her to be able to find another deeper relationship like her and Nyssa (Katrina Law) had [in ‘Arrow’], [or] maybe even explore the ‘Captain Canary’ thing.”
“Captain Canary” is the ship name created by fans for Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Sara, who is also known by the alias White Canary. The romance between the two started in Season 1 but abruptly ended when Captain Cold, aka Leonard Snart, sacrificed his life for the team towards the end of the show’s freshman run. Unfortunately for Lotz, it doesn’t seem that there will be another time to explore Captain Canary, as Miller revealed on Instagram earlier this month that he’s exiting the Arrowverse after this season.
“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
