Lena Dunham Splits From Jack Antonoff After Writing ‘Heartfelt’ Tribute About Him
Lena Dunham has split from her long-time boyfriend, Jack Antonoff.
A source told People that the couple is “amicable” towards each other. Their decision to go their separate ways was also mutual.
Before their split, the “Girls” star wrote a “heartfelt” tribute to her ex-boyfriend as part of Variety’s latest issue.
“It’s safe to say that before Jack my life was full of far fewer sights. He showed me the importance of making political statements using your public platform. He showed me the joy of collaboration,” she wrote.
He showed me the magic of his home state of New Jersey and turned the butt of my snotty New Yorker jokes into a glimmering fantasyland. I know he does the same for all the artists he produces for, the fans who come to his shows and the recipients of his love. I try and share nicely,” she added.
Dunham and Antonoff were set up on a blind date by his sister in 2012. During their first date, Antonoff was so comfortable with Dunham that he told her everything she needed to know about him.
Shortly after becoming a couple, the producer moved into Dunham’s apartment in New York. In June, he told People that their life at home is quite normal. “It’s pretty normal in terms of everyday life… We try to support each other and try to find something new and exciting for dinner,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dunham and Antonoff have also sparked engagement rumors a couple of times in the past. But they also vowed to never get married until same-sex marriage becomes legal in all 50 states.
While speaking with the New York Times, he said, “It’s hard to imagine when the right time is, because things are going so crazy at the moment. It just seems like the most fun thing in the world. I’ve never met people who have kids who haven’t looked me in the end and been like, ‘It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened.”
In 2015, Dunham told Ellen DeGeneres on the “Ellen Show” that she and Antonoff own a dog and a house together, but marriage seems to be a very serious thing.
