Lena Dunham’s new ad for President Barack Obama is drawing plenty of controversy for its sexual overtones. Political experts are weighing in on the ad,, which is about “your first time.”

The “first time” Lena Dunham, the star of “Girls” and who recently signed a $3.5 million book deal, is referring to is the first time she voted. In the ad, Dunham says your first time voting should be something special, “You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful … somebody who really cares about and understands women,” reports Gawker.

“Your First Time” mentions health insurance, birth control, bringing American troops home from Iraq, gay marriage and even the Lily Ledbetter Act to make the case for Obama. For Dunham, your first time should be with a guy that stands for that, a guy like Obama. Dunham was labeled “the voice of a generation” by The Wall Street Journal and the actress has never shied away from the topic of sex, treating it with equal parts humor, satire and seriousness.

The ad, released Thursday, is already getting plenty of attention. Some, like Gawker or The Atlantic, view it as rather inoffensive, a sort of humorous approach to the normal campaign videos that showcases Dunham’s wit that has drawn so much praise.

Others on the right have not responded too well to Dunham’s “Your First Time.” Breitbart calls the ad “an astoundingly tasteless ad comparing voting for the first time to losing your virginity. Really. And Dunham recommends that if you’re going to have sex – er, vote – for the first time, you should really do it with President Barack Obama.”

The Right Scoop had this to say about the video, “They’ve finally sunken to a new low trying to get the youth vote by comparing voting for the first time to having sex for the first time.”
