Leonardo DiCaprio-Lady Gaga Update: ‘Revenant’ Star Hangs Out With Gaga, Taylor Kinney After 2016 Golden Globes
Leonardo DiCaprio and Lady Gaga have already forgotten all about “The Wolf of Wall Street” star’s reaction at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards Sunday and laughed it off during an after-party, reports said Tuesday. DiCaprio’s reaction — when the “American Horror Story: Hotel” star sashayed through the crowd to collect her award for the best actress in a miniseries or TV movie — became viral as many fans speculated that the actor was dissing Gaga for her win.
“Leo was shocked that his chuckle at Gaga went viral and became a thing,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that DiCaprio, Gaga and her fiancé, Taylor Kinney, laughed while watching the clip again at the after-party at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood.
The source also said: “They hung out for twenty minutes laughing and chatting and Leo explained that he had no idea she was even behind him when she walked up,” adding: “He was having a moment laughing with who he was sitting with about something else and then his elbow was out and he had no idea she was walking by — it’s so crowded in that room.”
The source also told Us Weekly that none of them took offense at the "Revenant" star's reaction when he gave Gaga side-eyes after she bumped into him while walking to the stage. “He certainly wasn’t laughing at her at all and she didn’t think he was,” the source said, adding: “They were all laughing together about how funny the whole thing was.”
DiCaprio explained to Entertainment Tonight during an interview backstage at the event why he reacted like that. “Oh lord — that’s trending, huh,” DiCaprio reportedly said, adding: “I just didn’t know what was passing me -- that’s all!”
A Radar Online report said Tuesday that Gaga bumped into him because DiCaprio was laughing so loudly that everybody could hear him.
“Gaga was not about to let him steal her moment, and she wanted to shut him up,” a source told Radar Online, adding: “She would have ignored it, but when her name was announced as the winner, Leo was laughing so loud that people far away from his table heard it. He was making a total scene.”
However, DiCaprio apologized to the “Born This Way” singer later, after Kinney reportedly asked him to do so.
“Leonardo said that this was the last time he would drink before the award show,” a source told Radar Online, adding: “They all partied there all night long and laughed it off.”
