“Lethal Weapon's” latest episode will reveal more details about Riggs’ (Clayne Crawford) relationship with his late wife, Miranda (Floriana Lima).

In an interview with TV Insider, Crawford said that Season 1, episode 9, titled “Jingle Bell Glock,” will “explore sides of Riggs that the [‘Lethal Weapon’] films were unable to and go back to Miranda and see how they met, how they evolved and why he’s in the state he’s in.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, the holiday season weighs heavily on Riggs, who finds himself remembering past Christmases he spent with Miranda. While he definitely misses his late wife, Crawford thinks that what really drove his character crazy in the episode are his thoughts that Miranda’s death “may not have been an accident.”

It’s unclear whether or not Miranda’s death has affected how Riggs feels about Christmas, but in a sneak peek from the episode, the Navy SEAL veteran tells Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) that he doesn’t like the holidays.

“The worst part of the holiday season is … well, everything,” Riggs tells his partner as they head to a crime scene after the whole precinct’s holiday celebrations are cut short when they’re called to examine a ruthless homicide of a 25-year-old woman.

The synopsis for the episode revealed that the murder is connected to Eddie Flores (Raul Casso), the deranged nephew of a notable drug lord who has a previous history with Riggs. As seen in the sneak peek, detective Bailey (Michelle Mitchenor) initially thought that the murder could be a suicide.

“Do you think she off herself? Holidays can be hard on some people,” she asks Murtaugh in the clip.

“[It] could be, but if you gonna take a swan dive I doubt that you worry about your feet getting cold on the way down,” replies the father-of-two, gesturing to the victim’s feet covered with socks.

In the same episode, Murtaugh finds himself a little preoccupied with his neighbor’s obnoxious holiday decorations.

“Lethal Weapon” Season 1, episode 9 airs tonight, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
