Is Lifetime Making A Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Sequel Movie?
Update — 2/10/19 7:15 p.m. EST: Lifetime’s just made it official. The network announced Sunday night that a sequel to its 2018 Meghan Markle and Prince Harry movie, “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance,” will arrive this spring.
With the working title of “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal,” the film will continue “the love story of newlyweds Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, pulling back the curtain to reveal the untold joys and challenges of life inside the royal family during their pivotal first year of marriage,” according to a press release.
Unfortunately, the stars of the first film — Parisa Fitz-Henley (Meghan Markle) and Murray Fraser (Prince Harry) — will not be reprising their roles for the second installment.
“Our original royal couple, Murray [Fraser] and Parisa [Fitz-Henley] are not available. So more news to come on who will take their crowns,” A+E president of programming Rob Sharenow told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to The Wrap.
Original Story: A sequel to Lifetime’s 2018 Meghan Markle and Prince Harry movie may be in the works, International Business Times has learned.
While “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” centered on the beginning of the couple’s relationship, from their first date in 2016 to their marriage proposal in 2017, its upcoming sequel, tentatively titled “Meghan and Harry 2: Becoming Royal,” will likely focus on everything that happened after the two got engaged.
Between wedding planning, the constant speculation about what dress Markle would wear, the actual celebrity-filled royal affair in May 2018 and the couple’s recent pregnancy announcement and impending move to Frogmore Cottage, there’s a lot for the sequel movie to cover.
A production rep for the movie confirmed the sequel news to IBT, although Lifetime won’t confirm at this time.
While it hasn’t been confirmed yet whether or not Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henley will be reprising their roles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, respectively, director Menhaj Huda will be back to helm the project. Shawn Williamson will once again executive produce, while Jamie Goehring will return as a producer.
Filming is expected to begin shortly in Vancouver and wrap by the end of March. There’s currently nothing to share in terms of a release date for “Meghan and Harry 2: Becoming Royal,” but the first movie was announced in January 2018 and premiered on TV on May 13 that same year.
