'Lightyear': Chris Evans Responds To Taika Waititi Calling Him 'Supporting' Character
Actor Chris Evans had a witty response to New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi calling him a "supporting" character.
"I'm the main star of this movie but I pulled rank and said the trailer should be more about the supporting characters like @ChrisEvans one, Bazz," Waititi wrote in jest along with the trailer of the upcoming animated movie "Lightyear." "Every hero has a beginning. Man astronaut Go on an intergalactic adventure with Disney and Pixar’s #Lightyear this June 17, 2022."
Evans took to Twitter to reply to Waititi’s post Tuesday: "In my eyes, you’re the main star of every movie whether you’re in them or not."
Waititi responded with eye heart popping and folded hand emoji.
Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.
One of the fans shared throwback footage of Evans and Waititi having a laughter ride. In the video, the director falls and Evans picks him up before hugging him. "We get it you 2 are awesome," a fan captioned the video.
Another fan suggested that the filmmaker should do a movie with Chris Hemsworth too, and that movie should release on Netflix, "Now do a movie with Taika and Hemsworth. Bonus points if you throw in Reynolds. Suggest Netflix as no one else could afford you all!"
"Lightyear" is an animated action movie based on the fictional character, Buzz Lightyear. The character first appeared in "Toy Story" animated movies. The upcoming flick is helmed by director Angus MacLane and produced by Galyn Susman. The movie is slated to release on June 17.
Besides "Lightyear," Evans will be next seen in an action thriller movie, "The Gray Man," which is under post-production. The actor will also appear in movies like "Red One," "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Bermuda."
Waititi, on the other hand, will direct the highly anticipated Marvel movie, "Thor: Love and Thunder," which is slated to release on July 8. He will also lend his voice in the movie for Korg's character.
He will also feature in a TV series, "Our Flag Means Death," which is under post-production, and the first episode is slated to release on March 31.
