Lil Wayne Fan Brittany Harris Arrested On Child Neglect Charges After Allegedly Leaving Kids In Car During Weezy's Palm Beach Concert [MUGSHOT]
Florida resident and Lil Wayne fan Brittany Harris is in a lil bit of trouble after being arrested Sunday on allegations she left her two young children in the car so she could catch Weezy’s concert in West Palm Beach uninterrupted.
Harris, 25, of West Palm Beach, was booked Sunday in the Palm Beach County Jail on two charges of child neglect, according to records from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The records showed Harris was released early Tuesday morning after posting $20,000 bail. The children are now with the Florida Department of Children and Families.
The Florida woman was arrested after an employee of the Cruzan Amphitheater took the two young children with him to a West Palm Beach Sheriff officer. The employee, Barry Batchelor, said he observed the 5-year-old and 2-year-old “unsupervised for several hours” in the venue’s parking lot during the Lil Wayne concert.
Batchelor spoke to the children around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, and the kids told him that their mother went to the Lil Wayne concert and “left them to stay in the car unsupervised,” according to the police report obtained by the Smoking Gun. The children reiterated the story to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the report noted.
Harris was spotted in the parking lot around 11:30 p.m. Sunday after the Lil Wayne concert ended. Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office escorted the Florida woman to the north gate of the venue, where she was given her Miranda warnings. Authorities said the 25-year-old initially said her cousin brought her kids to the concert, but later “confessed that she came here and left the kids to stay in the car so she could watch the concert.”
The Florida Department of Children and Families was ordered to “take possession of the kids” because of the alleged treatment of their mother.
The police report went on to explain why Harris was arrested at the Lil Wayne concert.
“Due to the fact the children were left unsupervised for several hours without necessary shelter by allowing kids to roam a busy parking lot with an estimated 9,000 patrons, numerous vehicles and intoxicated persons, Brittany was arrested for two counts of child neglect and transported to the [Palm Beach County] jail,” the report stated.
Weezy either had no idea about the arrest or didn't think the incident warranted any mentioning on his Twitter account. But the rapper did tweet about his Florida concert performance.
"West Palm I thank u!!" Wayne wrote.
