Lili Reinhart Slams Celebs For Toxic Weight-Loss Culture: 'Other-Worldly Disgusting'
Lili Reinhart is tired of celebrities boasting about their unhealthy habits and the quick weight-loss journeys they take on just to look good for an event.
The "Riverdale" actress took to social media the day after this year's Met Gala to share her strong opinions about the lengths certain stars went to look flawless on the red carpet. "To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are... because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month... all to fit in a f--king dress?" she wrote on her Instagram Story on May 3, according to Elle.
"So wrong. So f----d on 100s of levels. To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting," she continued.
"Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies. I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me," the actress noted further.
The rant of Reinhart, who didn't mention any name in her post, came just a day after Kim Kardashian openly admitted to losing 16 pounds in just three weeks to fit into the iconic "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" dress that was once worn by Marilyn Monroe.
When Kardashian spoke to Vogue at the Met Gala, she went into detail about the extreme lengths she went to fit into Monroe's dress. "It was such a challenge. It was like a (movie) role. I was determined to fit (into) it," the reality TV star and beauty mogul said, as per People. "I haven't had carbs or sugar in about three weeks. We're having pizza and donut party back at the hotel (after the Met Gala)."
Kardashian hasn't responded to Reinhart's comments or the criticism she's been facing ever since she revealed how she prepared for her look.
It wasn't the first time Reinhart used social media to talk about body image. The "Chemical Hearts" told fans in March that a summer body is something one already has.
"Reminder to myself, and to all—you don't need a flat or perfectly toned stomach to wear a crop top. These 'summer body' trends are toxic. Your body is ready for summer no matter what it looks like. Don't let it stop you from enjoying anything," she tweeted at the time.
