Lili Reinhart has opened about her years-long struggle with depression and offered encouragement to her fans.
The "Riverdale" star, 24, who is a mental health advocate, took to her Instagram Story Sunday to detail her 11-year battle with depression and share some wisdom with her followers.
"Some days I feel really defeated by my depression. It's an exhausting battle that I've been fighting for 11 years and some days, like today, it can feel intolerable," Reinhard wrote, as quoted by Entertainment Tonight.
She went on to remind those who can relate to her that it's normal to feel tired and not want to fight. Reinhart then encouraged fans to prioritize themselves and take time to rest if they need it.
"This is a reminder to my fellow warriors that it's okay to have days where you don't want to fight anymore," she continued. "You don't need to justify your mental health to anyone. Prioritize yourself when needed, take time to rest. Surround yourself with good people and high vibrations."
Reinhart also explained her philosophy, saying, "But remember you are always worth fighting for. And tomorrow could be such a beautiful day."
In a previous interview, the actress revealed that she struggled during the quarantine amid her split from her "Riverdale" co-star Cole Sprouse. At the time, she also admitted that she was also learning how to love herself.
"At the beginning of this pandemic, I felt very lost. I felt very sad and hopeless, because of personal things that were happening in my life. Instead of distracting myself, f--king random people and doing drugs and drinking my problems away, I chose the harder route, which was to not distract myself," Reinhart told Nylon in September 2020.
"I was like, 'I'm not doing that. I'm going to go through the next however many months of s--t, pure s--t, awful, crying every day, but the necessary work,'" she continued. "I've been through some s--t, the last year, a lot of loss. I needed to learn self-love, basically. It's a very hard thing to do. How the f--k do you love yourself?"
In June 2020, Reinhart announced that she's bisexual, revealing that she has been attracted to women from a young age. However, she also made it clear that her sexual orientation had never been a secret to the people close to her.
Reinhart is currently working on her next film, Netflix's "Plus/Minus," which is expected to be released next year.
