Lily Collins shared the funny reactions she got from her family and friends after they learned about her engagement.
The "Emily in Paris" star did an interview with Entertainment Tonight and showed off her engagement ring. During Collins' conversation with ET's Rachel Smith ahead of the premiere of her other Netflix movie "Mank," she shared how the people in her circle reacted to her engagement to her fiancé Charlie McDowell.
"And it's so funny when we got engaged, so many friends and family were like, 'Thank you,'" she told ET.
"I'm like, 'Why?' They're like, 'Thank you for giving us something to look forward to. I'm like, 'Oh yeah, we totally did it for you guys.' But it has been ... yeah, I'm very grateful. I'm grateful for a lot of things right now."
The couple is now planning their wedding. Collins finds the process "fun."
"It's like, this is like a fun part. You get to think about all those things, you know, as a young girl, thinking like, 'Ooh, what do I want one day?' It's like, now you get to actually play and have conversations about it," she added.
Collins announced her engagement to the writer-director in September. She shared a series of photos of them following his proposal while showing off the diamond ring he got for her on Instagram.
"I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together," she wrote in the caption.
Following her engagement announcement, Colins appeared on Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest's show "Live with Kelly and Ryan." The actress shared that she knew McDowell was the one for her "the second" they met. However, she had no idea when he would propose to her.
"I can’t believe I get to call myself a fiancée now," she shared.
"I was very surprised as to when and where it would happen. But it was kind of one of those situations where I knew the second that I met him, that I wanted to be his wife one day. It was just a matter of when, really."
McDowell proposed when they were on a road trip to New Mexico. The director filmed the proposal with a self-timer and proposed with the unique ring he custom-made for her.
"I was very surprised by it, but it’s exactly what I would’ve wanted and he knew me so well, obviously," Collins said.
Collins' upcoming biographical drama film "Mank" will stream on Netflix beginning Dec. 4.
