Lily James Cancels 'Today' Appearance Following Scandal With Married Co-Star Dominic West
KEY POINTS
- Lily James canceled her scheduled appearance on the "Today" show on Monday
- James was recently romantically linked to her married co-star Dominic West
- The "Rebecca" star and West were photographed kissing and hugging in Italy
Lily James was supposed to appear on the "Today" show on Monday, but she canceled her scheduled guesting after she was photographed getting cozy with Dominic West in Italy while filming "The Pursuit of Love."
James and her co-star Armie Hammer were slated to appear on "Today" to promote their Netflix movie "Rebecca." However, an NBC source revealed that they had canceled their interview on the show, Page Six reported.
The outlet noted that when it reached out to James on Friday, she was still preparing to appear on the "Today" show. However, she pulled out over the weekend.
James' decision to cancel her appearance came after photos of her canoodling with West, who plays her dad on the new BBC show entitled "The Pursuit of Love," made headlines. The photos were taken during their two-day trip to Rome where they shared a suite in Hotel De La Ville.
Page Six also noted that they were seen kissing at the Leonardo da Vinci airport when they were traveling back to the U.K. They were also photographed embracing each other.
Many likened West and James' alleged romance to that of Kristen Stewart's scandal with director Rupert Sanders on social media. Stewart and Sanders were seen hugging and kissing while filming "Snow White And The Huntsman" and the director was married to Liberty Ross at the time.
"This is Kstew/Rupert Sanders 2.0," one netizen wrote.
“This has real Kristen Stewart cheating on R Patz with Rupert Sanders energy,” another commented on the photos of James and West that circulated online.
However, Stewart and Sander’s affair broke the latter’s marriage. But West and his wife, Catherine FitzGerald, who share four children, made a bizarre photo call and even kissed each other in front of the cameras after his photos with James made headlines. The couple also handed photographers a note that read, "Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.”
Meanwhile, both Stewart and Sanders issued a public apology to their partners. Sanders apologized to his wife, Ross, and Stewart said sorry to her boyfriend at the time, Robert Pattinson.
Sanders opened up about his affair with Stewart in 2017 and described it as a "momentary lapse."
“If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse, there would be no one making art,” he said.
