Millennials, rejoice. Lindsay Lohan will soon be back on the big screen with a new rom-com that will stream on Netflix. Yes, she is the very same person who gave us “Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen,” “Herbie Fully Loaded,” “Mean Girls,” “The Parent Trap” and “Freaky Friday.”
The streaming giant announced the news on Twitter, saying: “Lindsay Lohan will star in a new romantic comedy about a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident.”
So, if you are a rom-com fan, you are in for a treat.
There is no official word yet on when the film will release. But according to Variety, the Netflix movie starts production in November, so it won’t be for 2021 holiday viewing. Other members of the cast are yet “to be announced.”
The Netflix rom-com is written by Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver. It will be directed by Janeen Damian. Amanda Phillips and Eric Jarboe are the executive producers of the film.
Lohan rose to fame as an 11-year-old in the remake of “The Parent Trap.” She was one of the most beloved actresses from the late 90s to the early 2000s. But with fame comes scrutiny, which in Lohan’s case was excruciatingly intense. After being harassed by the paparazzi for years, the actress slowly withdrew from acting. She even switched continents and moved to Europe and Dubai.
In 2019, Lohan was seen in the MTV reality show “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club”. Later that year, she appeared as a judge on the Australian version of “The Masked Singer.”
On CNN’s New Year’s Eve special in 2019, Lohan told hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to make a comeback. “I want to come back to America and start filming soon, taking back the life that I worked so hard for and sharing it with my family and you guys,” she said at the time.
So, till the time an official release date of Lohan’s film comes out, you can binge-watch her old movies and take a trip down the nostalgia lane.
