Lindsay Lohan Is ‘Forcing And Pushing’ For ‘Mean Girls 2’ To Happen
Will a “Mean Girls 2” movie happen? Lindsay Lohan sure hopes so.
In a Facebook Live Q&A with CNN, the actress, who played the cult-favorite film’s lead role, said she is doing everything she can to push for a sequel. “I have been trying to so hard to do a ‘Mean Girls 2,’” Lohan said. “It is not in my hands. I know that Tina Fey, and Lorne Michaels and all of Paramount [Pictures] are very busy. But I will keep forcing and pushing it on them until we do it.”
Lohan also said that she would like to have Jamie Lee Curtis and Jimmy Fallon be part of the sequel. “I have already written a treatment for it,” the actress revealed. “I just need a response. I know Mark Waters, the director; he’d happily come back.”
This is not the first time Lohan has shared her interest in reprising her role. The actress told Entertainment Weekly in 2014 that it would be “an honor” to work with the people behind the film again.
Lohan is not the only one who thinks doing a sequel is a good idea. Rachel McAdams, who played Regina George, told E! News that she would love to revisit the character. Speaking of the idea of a sequel, McAdams said: “I mean, I loved that movie. I love Tina Fey. I love the girls. I mean, to get to kind of have a reunion would be… we got to have a reunion at a photo shoot a couple of years ago and it was over like that and it wasn’t enough. I was back in it.”
While the two stars are eager for a reunion, Fey, who wrote the screenplay for the film, believes it’s too late for “Mean Girls 2.” “At the time, we did wanna start the conversation about the sequel and for whatever reason I was like, ‘No! We shouldn’t do that!’” the writer-actress said. “Now I look back and I’m like ‘Why?’ But now, no -- it’s too late now.”
