- She revealed that her dad's message of support after her divorce helped them reconnect
- Lindsie and Todd had been estranged as recently as last year
Lindsie Chrisley is setting the record straight on her recent reconciliation with her dad, Todd Chrisley.
Lindsie discussed the reaction to her reconnection with her father in a recent episode of her "The Southern Tea" podcast. She clarified that their decision to work on their relationship as father and daughter was related to her divorce and not the fraud trial Todd and wife Julie Chrisley were recently convicted in.
"The most common question I think is people wanting to know if we reconnected because of the trial or because of my divorce... [but] I can confidently tell you there was no reconnection due to any legal reasons whatsoever," Lindsie, 31, was quoted by Entertainment Tonight as saying on the podcast. "Nothing like that ever transpired."
Lindsie had been previously and publicly estranged from Todd, but the duo reconciled earlier this year as he and his wife went on trial for tax fraud.
Lindsie explained on her podcast that her own marital troubles brought her closer to her dad. She announced her divorce from her husband of nine years, Will Campbell, in August 2021.
A day after her announcement, Todd shared a message on Instagram addressed to "you know who you are," offering love and support. Lindsie admitted that her dad's post was the catalyst for their reconciliation.
"After my divorce stuff had become public, my dad had posted, 'I'm here, I love you, whatever's going on in your life right now I see it.' [And] that's really more so how we were able to reconnect," Lindsie said, adding that they reconnected "definitely because of my divorce."
The 31-year-old "Coffee Convos" podcast host also addressed her dad's message in a September 2021 interview with ET. However, at the time, she was not open to reconciling with Todd because she said her father never reached out to her directly after talking poorly about her in the media.
"There will never be a reconciliation," Lindsie said. "I think that the most that anyone could ask for at this point is for everyone to go on with their lives as they see fit and to just leave the other side alone. But at this point, there will be no chance for reconciliation."
Todd made similar comments during an interview with PeopleTV's "Reality Check" in August last year. The "Chrisley Knows Best" star admitted that Lindsie sent him a text message asking if they could sit down with their lawyers. However, he refused her proposal, saying, "I am not interested."
He said at the time that there are "certain things in life that I don't think you get past. And unfortunately, I think that's where Lindsie and I are."
But in an interview with ET in the same month, Todd hinted that he was open to reconciling with his daughter. "I pray to God every day. It has been the hardest thing because I don't know where you go from that... When you've had a child that you have loved the way that Lindsie has been loved, and this happens. All I can do is pray that God blesses her, and God gives her peace of mind and that God restores what can be restored," he said.
In June, Todd and Julie were found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud. In addition, Julie was also found guilty of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.
Their sentencing is set for Oct. 6. They face up to 30 years in prison.
