Lion Mauls Woman During Sex: Animal Kills Sharai Mawera In African Bush, Boyfriend Flees

Sharai Mawera was having sex with her boyfriend in an African bush in Zimbabwe when a lion approached the couple and mauled her to death.

Mawera’s boyfriend hasn't been identified, but is believed to be a fisherman.

“She had bloody bruises all over her body. Her neck and tummy had been mauled. The boyfriend used to often meet at the same spot with his girlfriend, who is now deceased. The two were romping. The lion came from behind and roared,” a friend told the Metro.

“The guy managed to escape before stopping at a distance, where he witnessed his companion being attacked. He rushed to the road, seeking help.”

The boyfriend fled the scene naked and motorists refused to stop and help him, MyZimbabwe reported.

"Later on people heard his plea and accompanied him to the police station, where he reported the matter,” a source said about the incident.

"Cops and officers from Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority attended the scene and fired at the animal,” the source said. The victim was already dead, however.

This is the second incident in the past two weeks regarding a lion killing a human.

Police said that a man in the same suburb was mauled by a lion last week as he left a nightclub.

Authorities are investigating whether it is the same lion who attacked Mawera.

“Residents of the town are now living in fear as the lions are still roaming freely as they are yet to be caught,” said Zimbabwe’s state-controlled Herald newspaper.
