We got our first look at Marvel’s Disney+ content during the Super Bowl yesterday and what we saw definitely raises some questions. However, one thing is for sure: one detail of the “Loki” Disney+ series confirms exactly where the plot will lead.

In the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Loki (Tom Hiddleston) managed to escape New York with the Tesseract in hand, undoubtedly creating an alternate split in the timeline. That was the last we saw of the God of Mischief.

However, in the few moments we got to see Loki in the new Super Bowl Marvel teaser, he appears to be in some kind of jumpsuit that would suggest he’s a prisoner somewhere. But the logo on the jumpsuit seemingly tells us exactly where.

IGN investigated the matter and determined the logo, “TVA,” stood for “Time Variance Authority,” a special police force dedicated to arresting time travelers who screw up the main timeline. Their existence is Marvel’s way of making sure all their time-travel and reality-bending story-arcs don’t get too out of hand.

After “Endgame” introduced time travel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), along with “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” treading into reality-bending alternate timeline territory, we might be seeing a lot more of this agency in the future.

In lieu of individual officers, the TVA employs clones or copies of the same individual known as “chronomonitors” and given that they have a more comedic presence in the comics, the recently announced casting of Owen Wilson may just mean that he’ll play the many faces of this organization (his role remains unconfirmed).

No plot details have yet come out about this or the other Marvel Disney+ shows, but we know that the “Loki” Disney+ series will go “to an entirely new part of the MCU,” according to director Kate Herron.

An exact release date for the “Loki” limited series has not been announced, but Disney+ has stated that a spring 2021 release is expected.
