Police in Idaho on Saturday confirmed that two bodies found on the property of Chad Daybell are missing children Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow, the children of Daybell’s wife Lori Vallow. Ryan and J.J. Vallow had been missing in September, sparking national media attention.

“It is not the outcome we had hoped; to be able to find the children safe,” a press release from the Rexburg Police Department read. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of JJ and Tylee.”

The Fremont County Medical Examiner made the identification after a search warrant was executed Tuesday on Daybell’s property. The bodies were found in a well on the property.

The disappearances of Lori Vallow’s children sparked a months-long investigation into her and Daybell’s background and conduct. A series of mysterious deaths linked to each and strange, apocalyptic religious beliefs have come to light over the course of this investigation and suggest dark circumstances surrounding the deaths of Ryan, 17, and J.J. Vallow, 7.

Family members of Lori Vallow have gone as far as to accuse her of joining a cult with her new husband, leading many in the media to dub her the “cult mom.”

Lori Vallow, 46, is currently on trial in Idaho with charges that include two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of a dependent child. J.J. Vallow was considered a child with special needs.

Lori Vallow was arrested and extradited from Hawaii in February after allegedly fleeing to the state with Daybell.

Daybell, 51, was later arrested and charged with destroying evidence.

Daybell and Lori Vallow are being held on $1 million bails in separate counties.
