Los Angeles Shooting: No Arrests Made After Incident Leaves 2 Dead, 5 Injured
Police in Los Angeles have made no arrests in the Willowbrook shooting over the weekend that left two people dead and five others injured.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 4 p.m. local time on a residential block in Willowbrook, which is about 10 miles south of downtown.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed a 17-year-old boy and a man were declared dead at the scene. The teenager reportedly suffered at least one shot to the upper body. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.
Of the five injured victims, four males were transported to the hospital. One of the men was in critical condition and the other three sustained minor injuries. The fifth victim was a woman, who police said had driven herself to the hospital.
Officials have not shared what may have led to the shooting but revealed there were at least two vehicles spotted approaching the area before gunfire erupted from inside of the vehicles.
Laquincy Zimmerman told the Los Angeles Times she was at church when she received a call that her 21-year-old son was injured in the shooting. At the time, she claimed her son was shot in both legs and in surgery.
Zimmerman went on to reveal that her neighbor’s porch camera captured video of two SUVs, one black and one red, firing shots. She said the video has since been handed over to the police.
Along with no arrests, there are no descriptions of the shooter or shooters available.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the L.A. County Sheriff's Department or leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers.
